Vikings Spin off series set to release on Netflix

Viking is coming to the end. The upcoming 20-episode sixth season which is set to premiere on December 4, 2019 will be the last season of Viking.

But there is the good news for Viking fans. Vikings creator Michael Hirst has announced that the saga of Viking will continue. And Netflix has already announced it has already got the right to its spin off series Vikings: Valhalla which will be the continuation to the original series. It has been rumored that spin off series will contain 24 episode but like other show in Netflix it might be divided into 2 parts.

This is being considered as big win for Netflix especially when there are many streaming service competing with Netflix.

What will be Vikings: Valhalla about ?

Vikings: Valhalla will be the continuation to the original series and will set 100 years after the originals. So, Most of the cast of series will be new. This new series will follow the most famous viking who ever lived like Leif Erickson , Freydis , Harald Harada and William the Conqueror.

Jeb Stuart who is well known for movie like Die Hard and The Liberator is set to write the script and serve as showrunner on Vikings: Valhalla. Hirst will be executive producer of the show. The story has not yet been released.

What is the Vikings about ?

Vikings is the historical drama series which is inspired by the tales of the Norsemen of early medieval Scandinavia. The story follows the life of the legendary Viking chieftain Ragnar Lothbrok and his close one such as friend and family.

Vikings was created and written by Michael Hirst for the History channel and premiered on March 3, 2013. Since it has already been established that Season 6 of the show will be the last one so it will be interesting to see how the spin off series will turn out.

When will Vikings: Valhalla be releasing ?

On January 4, 2019, it was announced that Vikings season 6 will be last one . In the same announcement , it was revealed  that Hirst and MGM Television were developing a new spin off series.

Since, the script is still in development the new series won’t be releasing until mid or late 2021 .
