M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller created the American crime drama television series Queen of the South. The series aired on USA Network from2016 to 2021, with a total of 62 episodes. It is a remake of the telenovela La Reina del Sur, which airs on Telemundo’s sister network in the United States; both are based on Spanish novelist Arturo Pérez-novel Reverte’s La Reina del Sur. On August 29, 2019, the series was renewed for a fifth season. After five seasons and 62 episodes, production of the new season was halted indefinitely on March 14, 2020, owing to COVID-19, but resumed in the fall of 2020 and returned for the last season.
