Developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, Ted Lasso is an American sports comedy-drama streaming television series. It is based on a character of the same name that Sudeikis initially portrayed in a series of ads for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League. In the series, the protagonist, Ted Lasso, is a collegiate football coach from the United States who moves to England to work for a soccer team owned by a woman who wants to exact revenge on her ex-husband. While acknowledging his lack of prior expertise in the game, Lasso adopts an upbeat and friendly manner in an effort to win over the traditionally pessimistic English market.
Ted Lasso, a coach at a college in the United States, is taken by surprise when he is offered the job of coaching an English Premier League team called AFC Richmond, despite the fact that he has never coached soccer before. Rebecca Welton, the owner of the squad, hires Lasso in the hopes that he will fail as a means of extracting revenge on the owner who came before her, who was an unfaithful ex-husband. However, Ted’s charming personality and humorous disposition began to win over Rebecca, the rest of the team, and even those individuals who were first suspicious about his hiring.
